What kind of diseases affect camellias?

Answer by  sleepyjey (248)

Look out for 'seashore wave' marks. These indicate irregular watering or moisture and are seen on the tips of the leaves. The watering problem could be due to soil irregularities and water drainage problems in the soil. Take immediate care of this problem, or else your camellia will wither.

Fungus, fungus and fungus! Beware of the fungi that can attack you Camellias and destroy all your hard work. Look for it everyday and if you find it starting, get it treated ASAP! I've sen my friend struggle with fungus on his camellia and it was extremely frustrating.

Root rot, canker, and blight are the top three for camellias. Tea scales are the most serious insect problem for them. Canker is caused by a fungus as is blight.

They are mostly susceptible to fungi that causes things like root rot, flower blight, and twig die back, which can be controlled by better soil drainage and proper watering.

Hi Ginny,
insects too can attack the camellia. They are very annoying as you find it difficult to even enter your garden if the insects come in large numbers.  add a comment

Camellias are beautiful flowers but diseases can kill them. Some diseases are camellias blight, camellia dieback and canker, leaf gall, root rot and camellia yellow mottle virus.
