You might see tiny, worm like bugs. These are the larvae of moths, beetles, and sawflies. All of these will attack trees including magnolia. Most tree experts recommend you spraying your magnolia trees every spring with a special insecticide that will kill most of the bugs.

There are several different kinds of bugs that hang around on trees. Beetles, ants, caterpillars, spiders, different types of larvae, and bag worms are just some examples. A lot of these are harmless but others can eventually end up killing the tree. However, most of the time, bugs tend to like dead trees better than live ones.

There are numerable bugs that will pick on those trees and they are all hard to get rid of. Go to a garden center and ask. They will know specifics.
