You vet is your best source here. But whatever you do, never give Tylenol or acetaminophen. Aspirin is safe but should be given only at the advice of your vet.

You can give a dog 10mg per pound of aspirin twice a day. This should be taken with food and watch for stomach upset. Do not give ibuprofen or acetaminophen as these are toxic to dogs and can cause kidney failure. Best to check with your vet and also follow aftercare instructions that were provided to you.

There are several different products on the the market for pain relief in dogs. It will be up to the veterinarian as to which product to use. Some of the pain products include Tramadol and Rimadyl which can be given every 12 hours. Metacam is another and it is a liquid that only needs to be given once a day.

By far the most common pain relief medication prescribed for dogs and cats is Metacam. Your vet should have provided you with a prescription when you picked up your dog.

Dogs show pain differently then humans, they usually become lethargic and keep to themselves. Place a small amount of cayenne pepper in their food to help healing and ease pain.

There is K9 pain relief offered after neutering. Depending on where you get your dog neutered I am sure that they offer pain relief. Of course it will cost you extra. It is important to watch your dog after the procedure. Some pain relief offered last 6-8 hours post op. you could also try homepathic products.
