What is this string like worm I found in my carpet?

i know that there is a carpet worm and it thrives on pet poop and food dropping they infect the carpet and they start laying egg and they are hard to get rid of. the only way to get rid of them is to take up the carpet and throw it away. and put another carpet down

That could be any worm. It could be earth worm if it is a brown color. If it is white it could be a tape worm.
