Hamsters are very prolific animals. They can have anywhere from four to 12 babies per litter. Sometimes when there are to many the mother will kick the weaker ones out of the nest to give the stronger ones a better chance of survival. This is just a part of nature and there's not much you can do.

While hamster litter sizes will vary, regular size hamsters usually have 6-10 babies and the dwarf variety will have 5-6 babies. You may have a litter of 20, though!

The size of a hamster litter can vary from 5-15 depending on the type of hamster. Generally, the larger the breed of hamster, the more babies it will have.
