What is the typical US Navy issued side arm?

I want to know what kind of side arm they issue for the US Navy.

In my 6 years in the navy, the closest I came to a weapon was a deactivated M-16 with a laser-pointer on the end; this happened in Basic Training. Unless you're a Master at Arms, you'll likely never touch a loaded weapon. If you get a security job, though, the Military's standard sidearm is the M9 Pistol.

The standard sidearm for all the services is the Beretta 92F. There is an exception to this rule though. Officers of most of the Armed Services are issued Colt. 45 as their sidearm. This has been in effect for nearly two decades. The Beretta has stood the test of time and does not appear to be going anywhere, anytime soon.

The US navy along with every other brach of the armed forces now carry yhe 9mm barreta sidearm to be compatible with NATO forces so they can use the same ammo
