Usually treatment for elbow pain involves resting the arm in a sling. Pain from tennis elbow sometimes requires joint rest and a cortisone shot in the elbow. Unknown joint pain anywhere that lasts should be evaluated.

That really depends on what's causing it. For the most part a mild to medium pain killer is used for just general pain that doesn't have any other symptoms that are with it.

It really depends on the cause of the pain. Typically elbow pain stems from swelling of the ligaments or tendons in the elbow. Taking an anti-inflammatory (such as Ibuprofen) and icing it will help the swelling go down and relieve the pain. If it persists, you should consult a doctor about it.

I've suffered from elbow pain for 34 years of my life after a firefighting accident in my younger years. I use Icy Hot pads every night and they have literally saved my life.

When you first notice elbow pain apply ice 15 minutes every hour on the first day. Continue to apply ice every three to four hours for the next three days.
