Replace lost fluids - cool water and sports drinks are good. If child was sick use rehydration solution found at a pharmacy. Severe - emergency room for intravenious rehydration.

"Normal" depends on the severity of the dehydration. The vast majority of cases just require oral rehydration with the medical equivalent of Pedialyte. Only in severe cases are IVs used.

In general, depending on the level of dehydration, a hospital emergency room will attach a rehydrating solution intravenously to the afflicted patient.
