What is the significance of a four-leaf clover?

It's supposed to be lucky, but why?

Its an Irish tradition for the most part. But mainly its because its much rarer than the normal 3 leaf clovers.

Because the four-leaf clover is extreemly rare, so the person who finds one is lucky. It is also said that each leaf means something; the first is hope, the second is faith, the third is love, and the fourth is luck.
