A simple answer here is sod made from clover; patches of clover that have been cultivated and harvested for sod. Clover sod has many advantages as it is fast growing and low lying. Many animals like to eat clover so it provides nutrients to domestic animals and wildlife while also benefiting the environment by reducing runoff and erosion.

Known as alfalfa sod, is a leguminous plant found in Europe and Asia. Having three leaflets compounded leaves and small blue-violet flowers. Widely cultivated as a pasture and hay crop.

Clover sod is planted from clover seed and is grown to be cut up at the bottom of the roots in sections to be laid and grown elsewhere.
