You can create such a project with a bucket of water and a heavy object that water can't damage. Rocks works well. Fill the bucket about halfway with water, drop the rock in, and notice how the water level rises. The water rises because the rock is taking up the volume that the water normally would.

Fill a container with water till the top touching the edge of the container. Then put an object may be a ball in the water. By putting the ball in the water some water will spill out of the container, this shows that, that much place of water is taken by ball thus water is displaced by ball.
