The bladder is a vital component of your well system. The Wellxtrol is a pressure tank. Without it your pump would turn on and off many times per minute trying to meet the demand as you flush a toilet or turn on the sink. Your pump will fail if you do not have a functioning pressure tank.

Having a bladder in the tank helps to even out the flow. The bladder fills with water while sitting and then releases the water when it's demanded. For example if more flow is needed, like when a toilet is flushed, the bladder ensures there is no loss of pressure.

The air bladder inside your wellxtrol unit has the same purpose as an air bladder in other such units, with the exception that this is a special kind of bladder. It will not get cancer since it is made of man-made materials and not made out of a man or woman.
