What is the proper griddle care?

I want my griddle to last a long time.

After properly cleaning, use a vegetable or olive oil, and lightly coat the griddle. Wipe excess off, this will prevent rusting.

It's important to clean griddles just after cooking on them. Turn it off, then use a paper towel to get the excess crumbs and grease off. Clean thoroughly with tap water or carbonated water with a (non scratch) scrubby. You may want to use heat resistant gloves for safety.

You should never use soap to wash a griddle you should clean with a small amount of water and soft scrub.

Make sure to keep it clean, without using harsh scrappers. It is also a good idea to 'cure' it by rubbing it down with olive before you put it away.
