THE GI track of the body, which includes the mouth, throat, stomach, small inttestine and large intestine are involved in the process of food absorptions. For instance the stomach and small intesting absorb water. The small intestine absorbs vitamins and mineral and the large intestine will also absorb more liquids.

Food that are digested will breakdown into simpler and smaller molecules. Glucose (carbohydrate), amino acids (proteins), fatty acids (fat) and fat-soluble vitamis (vitamins A,D,E and K) are absorbed in the lower part of the small intestine. Water, minerals, water-soluble vitamins B and C are absorbed at large intestines. Fibres are not absorbed and become part of the faeces.

Enzymes in the mouth, stomach, and small intestines break down food into smaller substances that the small intestines can readily absorb through the thin lumen. These absorbed substances then go to the liver before being utilized or stored.

It's broken down by digestive juices in your stomach. Useful substances to the body (nutrients, fats, etc) are then processed by different organs. Waste then passes in urine and feces.
