What is the process for testing canine eyesight?

I think my puppy needs his eyes checked.

First stop is your regular vet. He/she will determine if your pup has an eye problem and needs a specialist for treatment. To find a specialist, check the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF) site for a list of doctors. CERF also lists upcoming eye clinics, where you can get lower cost exams by a certified eye specialist.

Dogs have poorer vision than people do, and puppies in particular are not very careful. If you think your dog has an eye problem, you vet can do a comprehensive eye exam. This is similar to a human eye exam except they do not test acuity. They will check eye pressures, tear production, and physically look at the eyes.

Your Puppies Eyes are no doubt still developing. I would wait till the Dog grows a bit more so he can be fully developed and then take him in to the vet to see about Eye sight testing. Most Dogs have superior eye sight though so I would not be overly worried.

The vet will usually check the clarity of the eye, reaction to light(dilation), and how the dog reacts to movement around them.

This is rather straight forward. Take the dog to the vet and have their eyes tested. Ask what sort of drops or preparations you can do on your own to care for your pet's eyesight.

Take him to your vet. The vet will use a light and objects to see if your puppy is seeing ok.
