About 80 percent of Indians practice the Hindu faith. About 13 percent are Muslim. Christians, Buddhists and Sikhs comprise the remainder. India is a secular republic per its Constitution and encourages tolerance of all faiths.

India has over one billion people. The majority (about 700 million + ) are Hindu. Islam (Moslems) account for 'only' 100+ million, so they are a minority. The remaining 200+ million are other faiths / no religion.
