1 thing they do when they are happy is purr. They also like to kneed on things. I know when cats are insecure they tend to kneed on blankets and suck on them as they kneed.

Hunting and playing are very common activities for a cat. Cats love to hunt and bring home little creatures and they love to play. If your cat is an indoor cat make sure you have a few toys for it to play with like strings with things dangling. Cat's also love attention from you.
