What is the law in Ohio regarding an employer's release of a final paycheck?

My former employer won't give me my check.

The final paycheck must be released to you per the same schedule it would have been had you not left the employer. Call the Labor Board immediately.

Legally they have to give you your final check on the date of termination or the date you quit. They cannot hold your paycheck for any reason. The only way they can take money out of it is if you owe child support.

The only way an employer can deduct money from a paycheck is by court order.  add a comment

Your employer must release your final paycheck within 30 days after your termination date or suffer legal action. This includes fines, taxing, and jail time. If you have a stubborn employer who refuses to fulfill his obligation you pay you it's best to call the federal workman's bureau and file a formal complaint.
