I believe the latest model in Japan is the SCPH 70000 CB. Usually they update their launches every so often even after a new model is released.

The SCPH-90000 was released in Japan in November 2007 and in the US in 2008. It has an overhauled internal design that has the power supply in the console itself and is more reduced in weight. Its a refinement of the slimline PS2 SCPH-79000 that has bee released in early 2007.
