The largest 9th inning comeback was by the LA dodgers in 1990 where they trailed by 9 runs to the Phillies. The dodgers ended up winning the game 12-11. There was also another game where a 9 run deficit was overcame by Cleveland in 1901 and they already had 2 outs in the 9th inning when they did it.

No! It was the other way around: Phil. 12, l.A. 11. It was the Phillies who came from behind.  add a comment

9 runs. On April 24, 1901 the Detroit Tigers scored 10 runs in the ninth to come back and beat the Milwaukee 14-13. This also happened a month later, May 24, 1901, when Cleveland scored 9 runs in the ninth to beat Washington.

In 1990, the LA Dodgers were trailing the Philadelphia Phillies 11-3 going into the 9th inning. The Dodgers would go on to score nine runs to win the game 12-11. In 1901 the Cleveland Indians scored nine runs with two outs to win the game 14-13, which is the largest deficit to be overcome with two outs.

Two teams have come back to score nine runs in the ninth inning. The first occurred In 1901, when Cleveland scored nine runs, and the second, in 1990, when L. A. tied that mark.

I've read that in 1901 Cleveland scored 9 runs in the bottom of the ninth after two outs to win the game 14-13.
