The importance of effective communication is to make sure the audience, whether it is one person or many receives the message you are conveying to them clearly. You must grab their attention, and hold it. Effective communication requires a response from the receiver of the message back to the sender, in order to make sure that the conversation is understood.

It is very important to have effective communication. When you a couple doesn't communicate in a manner that is effective they end up misreading eachother and can feel misunderstood.
