The Gators came into being in 1906. In 1912 they became part of the Intercollegiate Athletic Association. In 1995 they were undefeated. In 1996 they won their first National Title.
For a long time, Steve Spurrier was the head coach of Florida football. Once he decided to give the NFL a try, Florida went out and hired the football coach from Utah, Urban Meyer.
