The club was first founded as a cricket club in 1899. It won it's first Italian Championship in 1901. Milan's main rivalry is with neighbor club, Internazionale, which was formed in 1908 during a split with Milan about international players.

A.C. Milan were founded in 1899 by two ex-Brits. In 1908 a split was caused due to arguments over the buying of foreign players, this split created Inter Milan.
