It is possible that the bearing is going out in the compressor. Sometimes the belt can be loose and that will make a noise. Some compressors make a small noise while others are not as noisy. If the compressor is making an abnormal noise,it is probably time to take it and have it repaired.

The compressor has a number of small bearings on the inside. If the bearing become dry or if one becomes damaged or dislodged it tends to cause a metallic squeal or grinding sound

Check freon and ac oil levels, high and low pressures must be at system requirements. If both correct either the compressor or the ac clutch will need to be replaced.

Well the bearings may need to be repaired. Noise usually comes if the bearing has been damaged. It will make a squealing sound.

It's very probably that the clutch is going bad on your cars air conditioning compressor. It isn't necessarily a costly repair but it can easily become one if it isn't taken care of promptly. For example, the clutch can seize up causing the serpentine belt to break.
