The formula for nitric acid is HNO3. Commercially available concentrated nitric acid is 69-71% nitric acid (with the remainder being water.) It has a Normality of 15.8 and a density of 1.42. Fuming nitric acid (>86%) is also available. Nitric acid should be handled very carefully as it is both highly corrosive and a strong oxidizing agent.
