The orbit of Mercury is an ellipse with high eccentricity (0.21). Therefore its distance varies a lot over course of Mercury's year. This is from 46 to 70 million kilometers.

Mercury is the planet closest to the sun and has a very eccentric orbit. At closest approach, it is 46 million kilometers from the sun and 70 million kilometers at furthest. It orbits the sun every 88 days, as compared to 365 days for earth. It is the smallest planet in the solar system.
