I find that the best way to hang decorations on my door is to use a wreath hanger. You can get them in clear plastic so you don't really even see them, or you can get different metal finishes to coordinate with your door hardware. This will allow you to hang decorations without damaging your door.

Rather than putting a nail in your door, which will devalue your home, use a S-hook shaped hanger, which is available at any big-box or hardware store.

The easiest way to hang door decorations, assuming your door is metal, is to buy a magnetic wreath or decoration hanger. After cleaning your door, position the magnetic hanger and let it settle overnight. You can then attach your decorations to the small hook on the hanger.

Two good ways. A simple metal hanger which hangs over the door, the "S" looking ones. Jumbo suction cups which come with a hook or loop with which to hang.

I like to use a wreath hook to hang door decorations. They are inexpensive after Christmas. They also have that new stretchy tape and hook (3M) that works also.
