What is the best treatment for a dog pad abrasion?

My dog slid on the cement and has now got what appears to be a carpet burn on the pads of his front paws.

Wrap them with ace wrap and put some anti-biotic cream on it to prevent infection and also to prevent future injury.

Injuries to paw pads can be very painful. Bandaging and padding the pads will help. Also, any open wound (scratch, scrape, tear) on the foot is predisposed to a bacterial infection. Keeping the pads clean is important. Use warm water and gauze (not cotton) to clean the paw pads. Applying neosporin is safe as long as your dog doesn't lick.

It may heal on its own. However, if it appears to be causing dog pain or looks in any infected you will need to take him to the vet.

Clean paws with antibacterial wash diluted with water. Bandages will help if dog will leave them alone. Try to keep dog off feet as much as possible till it heals.
