How to retrain a dog from piddle pads to going outside?

Don't put the piddle pads down anymore. You have to eliminate that option. Watch for the dog to start sniffing around and take him out right away. Make sure you give him a treat that's worthy of his good behavior and make a big fuss about how great he is when he goes outside.

You can try moving the pad outside right outside the door, leave the door open so it can go in and out as it pleases and it should help it to learn to go outside. You can also just retrain it entirely to go outside by taking it out every hour to hour and a half and telling go potty.

There are more than one ways: one of them would be to use a rolled newspaper with which you could gently hit him and say loudly "no! "

These are good for training puppies but, I NEVER use them. Puppies won't learn to go outside. Just take your dog out often. He will get used to it.
