"Best" is hard to define. I personally think "Storybook Love" from the Princess Bride is the best love song ever written. However, I find that most people think it is either "The Rose" by Bette Midler or "Love me Tender" by Elvis Presley.

For my money it has to be Take My Breath Away by Berlin. It tells the story of the yearning and how the physical love transcends into an all encompassing need for the other person. Nothing else matters except the sounds, sights and thoughts of one they love. It has a slow, haunting sensual beat also.
