What is the best FIrst Person Shooter?

Depends on what you're looking for. For slower team-based, go for Battlefield Bad Company 2. For fastpaced Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. For arcade-ey Halo Reach. Most FPSs strongly rely on the online play, as such these games are much more fun if you have friends to play with.

Again, this depends on whether if you like to do this online or as a solo gamer. For me, I believe that Unreal Tournament (probably it's because it's my real first-person shooter), or Wolfenstein (as in the PC old version of it). Also, there are free MMO games that are also first person shooters, so... just check them out.

one of the most popular FPS out there has to be Halo. its for the Xbox, and can be a multi-player with split screen.

In my personal opinion, the two best first person shooters currently on the market are Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Halo Reach, both for the Xbox 360 console. As for upcoming shooters, Call of Duty Black Ops this November is sure to take the cake as one of, if not the best shooter available to gamers.
