It all depends on basically what you want in a computer. If you are looking for a desktop go with an HP computer. If you want a laptop I'd go with a MAC.

An Apple iMac is a great first computer. Apple's OS X operating system is designed to be really easy to use, and there are no viruses on the Mac computers.

If you want to play games you want something with AT LEAST 4gb of RAM, 500gb hard-drive and a current graphics card. Otherwise, buy something smaller. Always shop around.

The best computer to buy for the first home computer is a less expensive model that does the basics. Later, when you truly know what you want, you can explore all the many options that suit your particular needs. A safe option is to go for a simpler model from one of the major manufacturers.

I would suggest a computer made by ASUS. They have been making quality parts for years and it is also great for gaming with.
