I suggest AVG as a free program. It work's great,but needs other free support as Spybot S&D. With two programs like this,you'll go fast and with protection as you want. If you want to pay for it,get Kaspersky,it's good and reliable.

Anti-virus software, unfortunately, won't help your computer run faster. There are always the popular choices such as Norton and McAfee. My personal choice is AVG which is effective and free.

Anti-virus won't make your pc run quicker. If anything it will slow it down slightly but it reduces the chance of your pc getting a virus or spyware.

Most anti-virus programs have the same virus definitions. It just depends which one is easiest for you to use. Download trials of various programs and you should find out.
