There really isn't an average salary for a writer. Do you want to freelance or do you want to publish? Do you want to work for a greeting card company and write Christmas poems? Your specific goals and the popularity of your work control almost everything.

Most writers are not paid a salary, they are paid per article or store. Most writers make only 15-20,000 per year.
