A hairdressers salary differs depending on whether they are independant or working under someone else. It also depends on the type of salon they are working at and the cost of a hair cut. A higher end salon will offer higher wages. Hairdressers also get some income off of customers tips.

Experience of up to one year is $8 or $9 an hour, plus tips. Once you get to around 5 years the rate would average to about $11 an hour.

Hairdressers salaries vary greatly, depending on the salon you work at, and how busy you are (big your clientele is). They make between $25,000 to $200,000.

There is no standard salary for a hairdresser because majority of hairdressers work on commission jobs and therefore it depends on the number of clients you get and the different prices of the different services you give them. After college, try and open a place of business of your own and hire people to work for or with.

It depends on the part of the country, type of salon, type of clientele, experience, speciality area (if any) and what arrangement you make with the salon owner. The mean starting salary is around $20,000.
