Passover is a remembrance of the Jewish peoples' release from bondage to Egypt and their exodus from Egypt to Israel. The holiday lasts 8 days (the 15th to the 22nd of Nissan). It's a time of reflection and rememberance with special symbols, dietary laws, prayers and gatherings.

God's protection was over every household that applied the blood of a lamb to their doorposts; in other homes, the firstborn died.

God delivered the enslaved Hebrews, by sending Egypt 10 plagues, which "passed over" the Hebrews. Jews commemorate this deliverance with a seder, and by eating unleavened bread for 7 days.
