Chrysanthemum day is one of the five ancient sacred festivals of Japan. In 910a. D. the Japanese imperial court held it's first Chrysanthemum show. The Chrysanthemum was appointed the "national flower". It is still the symbol of the ruling family in Japan. The holiday is celebrated on the 9th day of the 9th Month.

This holiday is always held 9-9-XXXX, or the 9th day of the 9th month. The holiday is to celebrate the chysanthemum, which is the national symbol of the Imperal House of Japan. Japan and other Asian countries often have honors that are associated with this flower, such as the Order of the Chrysanthemum in Japan, typically given on this day.
