The kidney has a place that collects and if there is hydronephrosis, then there is a dilation of this part of the kidney. Urine can become trapped and causes the kidney to expand.

Hydronephrosis is caused when there is a build up of urine in the basion to the baby's kidney. This is potentaly very dangerous because the build up causes the baby's kidney to enlarge and it could possible stop the baby's kidney to stop producing urine. Since your condition is mild it will probly be easy for the doctor to correct.
