Ekphrastic poetry is a form of poetry in which the writer uses another work of art as inspiration. For instance, an example of an ekphrastic poem would be a poem that references and comments on a painting. A specific example would be "Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)" which was written by Don McLean, referring to Van Gogh's painting, Starry Night.
