What is considered low urine output in a 24 hour period for an infant?

My doctor is always asking me about my babies urine output and if it is low or not, how do I determine what is normal.

Your infant should be wetting at least 8 diapers per day. The easiest way to track, to change every 2 1/2 to three hours. The easiest to keep track, is to note if diapers are dry, and then keep an eye out for signs of dehydration, or other medical issues.

Assuming the infant does not have a fever or other reason for being dehydrated, one should expect a minimum of 24 to 30 ounces secreted in the 24 hour period.

If a baby is a few weeks old and wets less than four to five diapers per day and exhibits low dehydration symptoms, this would be considered too low.
