Is it normal to have a very heavy period after a d&c?

I had a d&c two days ago and my period is so heavy that I am changing my pad every hour or so.

What you are experiencing is probably not your period. It is not uncommon to have heavy bleeding, sometimes passing large clots, following a D&C. However, changing a bad every hour is a signal to call your doctor.

If you're changing a pad or more an hour, that's usually when you should contact your doctor because that's when my doctor's have said they want to hear from me.

It's very common to have a heavy period following either a birth, a miscarriage or a D&C. If you think you're bleeding too much you should talk to your doctor.

It is very normal to have heavy bleeding after having a d&c procedure. The procedure is used to scrap the lining of the uterus and get anything in the uterus out that should not be there.

Light, spotty bleeding is usually expected up to a week after a D&C. Heavy bleeding to the point of soaking a pad every hour than you should call your Doctor. There are meds that will help stop the bleeding and contract the uterus.
