My daughter gets ocular migraines, they can be horrible and scary, though they are painless. Also more correctly called ophthalmic migraines these cause visual disturbances such as blindness, blind spots, light flashes, zig zags. These symptoms often mimic a retinal detachment. Ophthalmic migraines are not the same thing as auras which may involve eye symptoms before onset of classic migraine.
