Some children suffer from migraines. If one or more parent suffers from this condition, there is a good chance that the child may also be susceptible to migraine attacks. There are not many migraine medications available that are suitable for children. Applying a cold press to the neck and placing the child in a darkened room often relieves the pain.

Yes, children can get migraines too. In fact, adolescence is a common time for migraines to first appear. OTC pain-relief like advil or tylenol is a good place to start.

Migraines are not that common in children but they do occur. A child with severe headaches should be evaluated by a doctor. Treatments is much like adults who get migraines.

Migraines run in my family and are hereditary. My youngest daughter started getting migraines at age 10 as did my mother. I give my daughter Excedrin Migraine medicine. She takes two at the onset and then rests and takes a nap and then they are usually better in a couple of hours.
