The best way to remove a tick is to pull it out. With good sturdy forceps grab the tick by the head and pull him out slowly and steadily. Don't yank or twist because you could leave parts of the tick in your skin. You may get an infection of Lyme disease from ticks.

There's no herbal remedy that I know of, but a good organic remedy is to coat the tick's body in olive oil or other vegetable oil. this will make it hard for the tick to breathe. It will release its hold on your skin and move to somewhere it can breathe. When it does, you can flick it off.

You will never believe that the solution can be so simple, but I assure you that Tea Tree Oil is the way to go. You can buy shampoo with tea tree oil in it and bathe your dog regularly with it and it will deter the ticks like magic. So simple and inexpensive.
