What is a macroenvironment?

Answer by  jill46 (100)

A macroenvironment is the "bigger picture." It is comprised of many different things, for example the air or the solar system. Speaking sociologically a persons macroenvironment could be the government, the city in which they live, the state in which they live, or their country. A Microenvironment would be their family.

Macroenvironment is the society as a whole - the general characterists of it, the "big picture" (rather than the individual people that make it up). In business, it is the major and uncontrollable factors that affect a business, it's ability to perform, and to make decisions and strategies.
