Be careful not to mistake his jealousy as controlling behavior. If he wants you to spend time with him all the time he may be jealous but if he NEVER wants you to see your family he may just be controlling.

That is one sign, but others might include making mean comments without provocation, trying too hard to become "like family" when you are together with them. On the other hand, he may just want to spend time with you, and it has nothing to do with your family
