A good external Dolby digital recorder would be the Sony EP9ES or a Technics SH-AC500D. Either of these will fit your needs.

Yamaha has a great decoder for about one hundred fifteen dollars. It is sleek and can hide easily anywhere. You will be able to find it on Amazon or Yamaha's website.
