It is not recommended that you give your canine human medicine without consulting your vet, except for emergency reasons. Buffered aspirin can be given to relieve pain, at a dosage of 5 mg per/lb, every 12 hours, but it should always be given with food, as it may cause gastroenteritis. Do not ever give your canine Tylenol or Advil.

For muscle pains or bumps and bruises then applying an Ice pack would work just as well as it does for humans. If giving a dog medicines , then check with vet first but human examples that have been prescribed to animals include buffered aspirin and St Johns Wort herbs.

Dogs are very limited as far as what human medicines they can take. Some vets recomment baby aspirin for pain. You need to consider an animal's weight when looking at dosing instructions. A dog's liver, if it can handle it at all, can only handle limited aspirin intake, since it is much smaller and less effective than a person's.

Human medications are for humans - there is no safe medication to give your dog without first consulting a veterinarian. Never give a dog human doses of medicine!

Dogs cannot absorb most medicine prescribed for human consumption. The exception to this fact is baby aspirin. Check with your vet to get the dosage.
