Your doctor is the person to see if no mild treatments are helping your sciatica. He or she may prescribe physical therapy and/or prescription painkillers. In extreme cases, epidural steroid injections (cortisone is a popular option) or surgery may be necessary, but your doctor will only recommend these if all other treatment options have failed.

I found that yoga dramatically helped my sciatic nerve pain. Check online and ask your doctor about exercises that will loosen and strengthen your legs and back. This should help.
