What happens in the body when you lose weight?

It's a matter of calories in vs. calories burned. Our bodies burn a number of calories daily. If that number is higher than the number of calories we consume, then we lose weight. Calories that are not burned are stored as fat, but when you consume less than you need, the body dips into those reserves for energy.

The fat cells of our body are converted in to energy and these cells shrink to a great extent where people notice the change. That's the positive side, however if you are loosing your muscle even that goes as your weight loss but the fat cells are still there.

After successfully altering your daily intake of calories, assuming that you have decreased the amount of fats and carbohydrates present, the body will begin a process of utilizing previously ingested carbohydrates stored as fat and begin to manipulate them into energy usable forms of the molecule glucose. This will result in a negative flux of calories burned versus calories consumed.
